Visit the Trees !

With almost 200 species of trees, woody shrubs and vines the Yellowstone Arboretum offers an intimate view of trees from many parts of the world. Starting in the early 1990's the arboretum has prided itself on introducing a multitude of native and non-native specimens that adapted themselves to the sometimes harsh Montana climate. At least one specimen of each species is signed for easy identification and all areas are connected by ZooMontana's comfortable pathway system. Here's a few walkable areas that are waiting for discovery. Click here for a close-up view of many more !

The Plaza

The Plaza offers visitors an expansive view of some of the arboretum's Maple, Oak and Locust collections. Seasonal tree colors can best be viewed here as you enter the grounds. The area is used for community events and celebrations throughout the year and is a great place to let the kids run free.
