A Short History

Originally planned to be known as "Canyon Creek Arboretum" in the 1980's the initial idea was for the arboretum and new plantings to follow the banks of Canyon Creek. Those plans never came to fruition. The first trees, though, were planted in the early 1990's in the Sensory Garden. Those early trees can be found today encircling the garden. A Tolleson's Weeping Juniper on the south side of the waterfall was the first planted with the garden eventually being guarded by Colorado Spruce and Austrian Pine.
