"The Berry Patch"
Catalogue A# 2019-050
GPS 45D 43' 49" N / 108D 37' 26" W

Planted in late Summer of 2019, the Berry Patch was implemented to monitor growth of native and non-native berries and as maturing takes place the anticipated crop will help supplement the diet of the bears of ZooMontana. It will also serve as an educational tool for the ZooSchool where students can watch the growth of the fruit, harvest berries and observe seasonal changes. Twelve species were originally implemented with space for additions and expansion over the coming years. The area selected is a rather secluded environment yet easily accessible and viewable from the main pathway system. Soil conditions and moisture also will be monitored.
